Portal for more climate-friendly mobility

Energiapro SA, the provider of CNG and renewable energies of the Holdigaz Group, continues to invest in sustainable mobility in French-speaking Switzerland and takes over two CNG filling stations previously operated by the Valais-based energy provider Oïken. Following the opening of a filling station in Noville (Canton of Vaud) in November 2020 and the completion of a semi-private CNG filling station for trucks in Vufflens-la-Ville (Canton of Vaud) last year, the network has grown to a total of 21 CNG filling stations, of which 16 are public CNG dispensers. As a result of the takeover by Energiapro, the fuel price at the petrol pumps fell to its current level of CHF 1.44/kg, which corresponds to a petrol equivalent of CHF 0.98/litre.
“We are delighted with the acquisition of these two filling stations and are convinced that CNG is a sustainable mobility solution for both passenger cars and trucks,” said Philippe Petitpierre, President and Managing Director of Energiapro SA. Thanks to the petrol pumps at the BP filling station on Rue de la Taversière in Sion and those of Jubin Frères SA on Route de Chippis 49 in Chalais, just a few minutes from Sierre, more than one in three CNG filling stations in French-speaking Switzerland now belong to the Holdigaz subsidiary’s network.
Both filling stations are located close to the motorway and are therefore also easily accessible to long-haul drivers and CNG users from other regions. The filling station in Sierre also has the advantage of being equipped to supply trucks – an increasingly important aspect for transport companies which travel across Switzerland with their CNG vehicles. The fuel offered at the petrol pumps generally contains 20% biogas. This proportion of biogas helps reduce climate-relevant CO2 emissions by almost 40% compared to vehicles with petrol and diesel powertrains. If desired, a higher proportion of biogas can be obtained in the form of a certificate.
“In recent years, several Swiss and European transport companies have shown a growing interest in CNG-powered trucks that are even virtually CO2-neutral thanks to biogas in the engine,” explains Philippe Petitpierre. “And the Swiss gas industry has also developed solutions for the growing challenges associated with climate change by developing plants that feed sustainable biogas into the grid. There are currently already more than 35 biogas plants in Switzerland, four of which are part of the Holdigaz grid.” The regional biogas, which reduce CO2 emissions, is produced from green and food waste at Ecorecyclage SA in Lavigny and from sewage sludge in the Roche, Penthaz and Collombey-Muraz wastewater treatment plants and fed directly into the Holdigaz Group’s grid.
